BOBBY BROWN attended WHITNEY HOUSTON'S funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday. But he left before it even started because security was harassing him. At least that's what he says.
He issued a statement saying, quote, "My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston.
"We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continued to ask us and no one else to move."
As if that weren't enough, Bobby says he was also prevented from seeing his and Whitney's 18-year-old daughter BOBBI KRISTINA.
He added, quote, "In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events."
Bobby said, quote, "This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how."
TMZ says that Bobby is leaving out one important detail: Whitney's family invited Bobby and TWO guests . . . but he showed up at the church with NINE people, and got mad when he was told they couldn't seat all of them.
REVEREND AL SHARPTON had Bobby's back after the funeral. He said, quote, "[Bobby] showed nothing but love and respect for Whitney. I wish people would leave Bobby alone." Here's video of his quote:
