Christina Aguilera Signs On for a 3rd Season of "The Voice"

"The Voice" Attracted 17.7 Million Viewers Monday Night . . . And Christina Has Signed on for a Third Season

Enough people were enticed by what they saw of "The Voice" after the Super Bowl to tune in again Monday night.  This season's second episode averaged 17.7 million viewers, which was also its second-best turnout ever.

Yes, that's down quite a bit from the 37.6 million viewers who tuned in on Sunday, but a big drop from the post-Super Bowl slot is to be expected for any show.

"The Voice" averaged 11.5 million viewers in the first season, and its previous best episode was 14.4 million viewers for the final night of the battle rounds.

Although "The Voice" is only two episodes into its new season, it should be noted that 17.7 million viewers is not far off from the 18.9 million viewers that "Idol" is averaging this season.  It's also 300,000 viewers more than last Thursday's episode of "Idol".

By the way, TheWrap.com is reporting that "The Voice" has signed CHRISTINA AGUILERA for a third season . . . and the deal may be worth around $10 million. "Insiders" say she's the first one to be locked down, but NBC wants everyone back.

The site also says NBC is thinking about airing the next season this fall instead of waiting for next spring.  This would put "The Voice" up against "X Factor".
