TWO And A Half Men bosses are planning to kill off Charlie Sheen's character so the troubled actor can never return to the show.

Producers of the show have decided his character Charlie Harper will die off screen.

They haven't yet chosen exactly how he will meet his maker but one idea is having Charlie drive his car over a cliff.

It's understand that the TV screen will turn dark for a few moments as the character's brother Alan and nephew Jake learn of his passing in the first episode of the new series.

Charlie, 45, was fired from the sitcom in March after behaving erratically and feuding with creator Chuck Lorre.

Ashton Kutcher then landed the lead role in the show, but he'll play a different character.

Reports in the US have suggested that he features in the sitcom after buying Harper's old house.

The new series of the CBS show will premiere in America in September.
